TRIGGER WARNING:
Themes and scenes of depression, mental illness, death and suicide
Song: Swing Life Away Artist: Rise Against Song writers: Tim McIlrath &Neil Hennessy Producer: Garth Richardson
Forever surroundings distinctly grey
Preferring the dark, no longer enticed by day
Beauty, an age-old memory about to be forgot
Withdrawn from social splendour, invited, but would rather not
Tears flowing constant level shifting with the tide
Alone in solemn silence, discarding sense of pride
Silently I cry silently for silence
Sound friction in my head silent sounds of violence
A uniquely strong spirit lost the will to live or fight
Wishing for death to take her, hoping that it might
Nothing to hold onto, only darkness and despair
She gets into her car, the landlady found her there
She cracked the window, just enough for the hose
She started the car there in the garage, breathing through her nose
She closed her eyes slowly, one tear shimmering down her cheek
She surrenders to the moment, dizzy and feeling weak
Excited I answer the phone: Where you at? Have you landed?
A male voice answers: “Sorry babe, she’s dead”. He was so cold and candid.
Lame ass joke you cunt, put her on the phone
He repeated himself once more - I’ve never felt more alone
I collapsed right there sobbing on the floor
How could you abandon me? I can’t call you anymore
We made a pact! Together. Sisters in suicide!
You left me all alone. Bitch, you fucking lied!
A decade has passed, and this one remains true
I still cry every time I tell my son about you
You’re my soul sister, the better half of me
I miss and fucking love you. I’m glad that you are free.

You want to put it all behind
Missing
Something
Searching for the strength inside
Finding
A new way
I am here to show you
My way
Better things
Coming
So learn to let it go sometimes
Let it ride

Your donation helps me stay housed, care for my child, and continue developing a radical recovery protocol I believe could change the game for long-term meth users. It’s literally how I stay alive and keep writing this.
We rise by lifting each other in the middle of the mess.
Dope Support is a biweekly online gathering for people navigating substance use, recovery, harm reduction, or just the weirdness of staying alive. Our core values are empathy, autonomy, and mutual respect. We don’t enforce abstinence, push advice, or judge worth.
We don’t fix or diagnose. Instead, we offer a brave space for honesty, vulnerability, and community. Your story is yours to share—or not. We respect your boundaries, triggers, and choices.
